The shortlist for the Lamma Innovation Awards has been announced, spanning five categories to recognise and reward cutting-edge technology and equipment.
Arable Innovation
Knight Farm Machinery – MAXImiser PRO – designed to increase safety and reduce chemical wastage, the system reduces pipework by 21% to minimise sprayer retained volume.
Grange Machinery – 6m Strip-Til Preparator – developed in collaboration with customers, this is said to be the only machine of its kind to offer hydraulic, on-the-move adjustment.
Vaderstad – TopDown with E-Services – using the iPad-based E-Control, operators can now individually adjust the working elements of the cultivator based on field mapping.
Digital Innovation
Krone – SmartBale app – easing the process of collecting bales from the field, the app can locate bales and sort them based on dimensions, weight and moisture content.
The Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture – online membership – a new online service to make training and development opportunities quicker and easier to find.
Herdwatch – Grass & Crops – integrating into the Herdwatch app, this provides data including Digital Field Records, Soil Health Data, NPK Tracking, Seeding Events, High-Resolution Maps, Spray and Fertilizer Records, and Task Management and Reminders.
Future Farming Innovation
Polaris – Ranger Kinetic – a fully electric UTV, offering the equivalent of 110hp, a 60mph top speed and charging in just three hours.
New Holland – T7.270 Methane Power – extending its range of methane-powered machines to the +250hp sector, this machine is aimed at biogas businesses and large farms.
SpreadPoint – SX-A Auger – a new lime and powder applicator said to apply material with zero dust and waste, and excellent precision.
Livestock Innovation
Spread-a-Bale – The Side Throw (ST) – a new option for M series straw spreading machines, the ST enables bales to be spread to the left or right in buildings with narrow access.
Greenhill Systems – Heatguard Evolution Sheeting – a cladding system for livestock buildings, said to reduce heat build-up and provide a light, airy space.
Teemore Engineering – Magellan Flooring – a rubber flooring which can reduce ammonia emissions in cattle housing by up to 40%, as well as featuring grooves to reduce slipping.
IAgrE Ivel Best Environmental Award
Kverneland – Pudama – a system to define the placement and amount of fertiliser sown alongside crops to reduce losses and leaching.
Manitou – MLT 625e – a fully electric telehandler for the agricultural market, which can be charged from the mains or power produced by onsite solar panels.
