Kuhn Farm Machinery has announced the VB 3200 variable chamber range, said to provide an additional 10% capacity and bale density when compared to the previous generation.
The VB 3260 and VB 3290 replace the VB 3100 range and feature the Progressive Density Plus system to achieve the higher densities. The 3260 can produce bales from 0.8m up to 1.6m in diameter, while the 3290 can extend up to 1.85m.
Rhodri Jenkins, grassland product specialist, said: “We have taken the proven concepts from the outgoing models and incorporated these into the new design along with innovative features to increase output and bale quality. The range is aimed at customers requiring higher density bales and greater output in a variety of different crops throughout the season.”
A new heavy crop roller with spring-loaded tines has been fitted, as well as a quicker tailgate system which can reportedly eject a bale in six seconds. Kuhn states that both of these go someway toward improving efficiency.
The driveline has been reinforced throughout and users can choose between the non-cutting Optifeed rotor, or the 14- or 23-knife Opticut rotor, both of which benefit from an integral rotor for improved throughput. As standard, a hydraulically controlled dropfloor is fitted.
In dry crops, the Progressive Density Plus uses hydraulic cylinders and a spring tensioner to increase resistance on the belts, with a belt tensioning arm adding to this when required.
Both models can also be specified as a baler-wrapper combination, with bale transfer times benefiting from the faster tailgate.
Rhodri concluded: “The high-spec new models are reaching the UK in time for this season, and we are excited to see them working in UK crops. The changes will increase output and offer users more options in a variety of different crops with an enhanced driveline for increased longevity.”
