KRM has announced the introduction of a new 8m SM-P drill to offer the same establishment options to growers with larger farms and with more horsepower at their disposal.
The machine uses the same SM coulters as the rest of the range, as well as the same Sola-developed metering system as the Ares-P and Aura ranges. This enables sowing rates from 2kg per hectare up to 400kg.
It is ISOBUS-controlled, with tramline shutoff and automatic monitoring of the forward speed. It also comes ready for automatic on/off, section control and variable seed rates. Fitted as standard, the half-width shutoff can be controlled manually or linked to GPS.
Calibration is simple, with the operator pressing a single button for the metering unit to collect an amount of seed. Once this is inputted into the ISOBUS module, the calibration is complete.
32 coulters are spaced at 25cm across the working width, enabling mechanical weeding to be used between the rows. The coulters are mounted on four rows, staggered at 40cm for a high throughput of trash.
Each coulter is mounted with an auto reset spring to protect against damage, and the sowing depth is set centrally, with support wheels at the wings to maintain the correct depth across the full working width.
At the rear of the machine, a combination harrow comprises angled and straight tines to consolidate the soil.
