Kuhn adds Optipoint Pro to Axis fert spreaders

Kuhn Farm Machinery has upgraded its range of Axis fertiliser spreaders with the Optipoint Pro system to avoid over- or under-dosing on headlands.

It changes the drop point of the spreaders when the tractor is turning on the headland. The spreading pattern and drop point are shifted towards the centre of the field, increasing the application width from the field side disc, while the outer disc works in border spreading mode.

As a result, a wider internal headland is created, which allows the spreader to switch off earlier when applying field passes.

Settings can be tailored to suit different fertilisers, with an increase of up to +4 drop point, or a 60% increase in the application rate.

Edd Fanshawe, arable and connected services product specialist, says: “Lateral distribution of fertiliser granules should be adapted to the working width, product type and disc setup. The Optipoint Pro system adjusts the drop point and rate to ensure accurate application over the increased width and maintain the spread pattern.

“The system will prevent inaccurate dosing on headland turns, which will be especially helpful for awkward shaped fields and short works. It also allows growers to accurately apply the right fertiliser for their farm and soil, without being constrained by a spreader that can’t spread different products with varying properties.”

It has been added to all ISOBUS Axis VS Pro machines in production from September 2024 and can be used with all ISOBUS terminals. A future update will show accurate application maps when using the system.
