Claas breaks ground on new tractor production site

On 3 July 2025, Claas broke ground on a new €6.5m multifunctional production facility, which it states will strengthen the site and support group growth.

It announced the official transfer of all required permits for the new facility in Le Mans. At the ceremony, Le Mans Mayor Stéphane Le Foll praised Claas for its long-standing commitment in the region, creating quality jobs and supporting local industry.

“The company is an example of sustainable growth and international competitiveness.”

    Global growth through tractor division

Claas is expanding its Le Mans tractor production site to meet expected growth over the next decade, with a focus on modern, efficient CVT tractors as a key part for future success with sales partners.

Chief operating officer, Thomas Spiering, highlighted Le Mans as a key strategic site for Claas: “Le Mans is the heart of our global tractor business. We have come to stay – and we have proven this by investing more than €80m to date in the transformation of this site into a model of modern tractor manufacturing.”

He adds: “It increases our operational flexibility, supports further vertical integration and expands our capacity to act in the global production network. At the same time, it strengthens our long-term partnership with the region Pays de la Loire.”

Since 2003, Claas has produced over 200,000 tractors at its Le Mans plant, supported by sites in Trangé and Vélizy. Continuous investments have modernised the facility with new assembly lines, a paint shop, a visitor centre, and training facilities.

The plant builds tractors from 75 to 450 hp, including the Arion 660 CMATIC, a Tractor of the Year 2025 finalist.

Completion by the end of 2026

The 3,800sq m facility is set for completion by late 2026 and will optimise logistics, boost in-house production, and cut costs while improving quality for customers.
