Tractor of the Year 2026 – TotY MidPower – New Holland T7.225 SWB

Representing part of an overhaul of New Holland’s T7 range, with a new styling and updates throughout the machine, the new standard wheelbase (SWB) T7.225 is powered by an FPT NEF six-cylinder engine, producing 185hp and boosting to a maximum of 224hp. At 1,300rpm, the maximum torque of 1,063Nm is available.

Customers can choose between the Dynamic Command 24×24 powershift transmission or the AutoCommand continuously variable gearbox, both offering a top speed of 50kph. Also within the driveline is an enhanced engine brake, said to provide the equivalent of 100kW of braking power using the variable pitch fan, exhaust flap and the transmission.

At the rear of the T7 SWB is a closed-centre, load-sensing hydraulic pump, producing 150 litres/min as standard, increasing to 169 litres/min as an option. Users can choose between mechanical or electronic valves, with up to five at the rear, with Power Beyond available, and up to four at the front.

The rear linkage has a capacity of 8,379kg, while the optional front linkage can lift up to 3,773kg.

The options list includes a host of precision farming and productivity systems, including Isobus 3 tractor implement management; the company’s baler mode, which adjusts the suspension reaction to dampen jolts from a large square baler; an aftermarket central tyre inflation system; and the automated headland turns through IntelliTurn.

Ride comfort comes from the saddle-style suspension integrated into the front axle, with dual cylinders and accumulators. This also enables a tighter turning circle of 11.4m, depending on tyre choice. Mechanical cab suspension is available, with the option to increase this to either a pneumatic or fully hydraulic system.

The cabin then features a newly designed armrest with configurable controls, while the new styling and hood design increase visibility out of the windscreen.
