After a small increase in tractor registrations year-on-year for September, the prevailing pattern for 2025 has restarted.
October saw 746 tractors registered, a decrease of 8.8% compared to the same month in 2024. While a smaller decrease than we’ve seen in other months, and the closest to the seasonal average than at any other point in the year, it is still 10% lower than the five-year average, according to the Agricultural Engineers Association.
It now looks likely that this year will see the lowest registration figures since the AEA began keeping records in the 1960s. From January to October, 7,829 units were registered, a year-on-year drop of 13.4%.
The AEA states that the continued downturn is due to weather challenges, low grain prices and political and economic uncertainity, all of which are significantly affecting confidence.
