February saw 356 tractors registered, according to figures from the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA).
This is an 18.7% increase year-on-year, and brings the total for January and February to 858 units; an increase of nearly 100 machines (12.6% higher than the same period last year).
However, the AEA notes that this is still the second slowest start to the year since 2000. This could be because registrations are typically at their lowest in the opening two months of the year.
It adds that the March figures, where registrations typically peak, will be a much clearer indication of the health of the market.
