Nexus to showcase Chafer updates at Cereals

Following the purchase of Chafer by Nexus earlier this year, a series of product updates is set to be unveiled at this year’s Cereals Event.

Peter Chantry, one of the directors of Nexus Chafer Ltd, says: “Before buying Chafer Machinery, Nexus was close to launching its own range of crop sprayers featuring new technologies and engineering that we’ve developed completely in-house.

“Obviously, launching a new brand with groundbreaking designs was going to be a significant amount of work and so, when the chance to buy the Chafer business arose, it made complete sense and delivers the perfect way to launch our new approach into the market by incorporating it into an already highly successful, popular and respected brand with lots of loyal customers and the support of a strong dealer network.”

As part of the updates, Chafer’s e-plumbing system has been redesigned to operate with the fewest working parts possible. This cuts the number of valves down from 11 to just four. Each can be serviced individually, reducing the maintenance requirements.

“We’ve listened to Chafer owners and have acted on their feedback. The new plumbing system, which is available in both electronic and mechanical configurations, and the new steering system respond to what users want to see in their next Chafer crop sprayer, and we are very excited about revealing them to visitors to our stand at Cereals,” Peter adds.

The new steering system is said to improve safety and accuracy, and updates extend to the rate control and section control systems.

The company will also showcase a brand new Sentry trailed sprayer, with an 8,000-litre tank – the largest ever produced in the Chafer range.

James Bilson, sales and marketing director at Nexus Chafer, says: “As with the improvements to the e-plumbing system and steering system, we’ve listened to our customers and what they wanted to see added to the range. A larger tank was one of those things, and we’ve responded by doubling the size of the Sentry’s largest tank.

“Having an 8,000-litre capacity will double the amount of time that farmers can be spraying, which should make a significant difference.”

Nexus Chafer will exhibit at stand 860 at Cereals.
