Designed for a wide range of operations, including agriculture, forestry and groundscare, JCB has introduced the Teleskid telescopic boom tracked loaders.
Built in the US, the 3TS-8T offers the same features as the wheeled variant, but runs on 450mm wide rubber tracks, providing additional traction, increased load capacity and a gentle footprint.
It’s powered by a 74hp DieselMax engine, which now meets Stage V emissions regulations without diesel particulate filter or diesel exhaust fluid, and uses a cooling system that features a reversing fan as standard.
Both the wheeled and tracked versions use the company’s patented single Powerboom, which the company says enables a standard door to be fitted, providing easier access to the machine. It also enables a larger cabin to be fitted and a 60% improvement to all-round visibility.
Power is put to the ground through a two-speed hydrostatic transmission, with steering control by slowing or speeding up the tracks on the inside of the turn. Top speed is 13kph on the tracked model, 7kph less than on the wheeled model.
However, the tracked machine benefits from a larger, 2.1m wheelbase, which combined with the tracks enables it to handle harsher working environments, including woodland and hillsides.
It is 2.1m high, and lifts to 4.05m with a 1.7m forward reach. The boom horizontal forward reach extends to 2.25m, which the company says will enable it to unload a flatbed trailer from one side.
The maximum safe lifting capacity is 1,705kg, compared to 1,483kg on the wheeled model.
In the cabin, a 7in touchscreen display enables operators to choose Iso or H-pattern movements and adjust the joystick sensitivity.
