AHDB Pork strengthens its team with new recruit

AHDB Pork has strengthened its team by appointing new recruit Sam Crocker as knowledge transfer officer.

Sam, who has joined the Knowledge Exchange (KE) team, has returned to her roots in pig farming after spending time in academia and more recently, working for the NHS.

In her new role at AHDB, Sam will be working closely with the Strategic Farms to identify and communicate learning outcomes from the national KE programme.

She will also be providing pig famers with up-to-date and relevant information to enable them to develop their businesses with a commercial edge.

Sam, who grew up on a farrow-finish farm in Iowa, has a degree in agriculture and has spent time with the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach team, interacting and coordinating activity within the Iowa pork industry.

More recently, she has spent time working on KE campaigns in local authorities and the NHS, including monitoring outcome-based work and stakeholder engagement.

Sam said: “Through my experience in the public service and industry background from the States, I hope to bring a distinctive perspective to the team in order to support English pig producers.”

She joins Dr Charlotte Evans, Ttechnical senior manager, and Dominic Charman, technical manager, in the Pork Innovations and Trials team. Dr Evans said: “I am thrilled to have Sam in the team to ensure we continue to build on a world-class delivery and technical service to meet the industry’s needs.

“Sam’s experience of this within the NHS, together with her passion for pigs, is a unique and valuable combination.”
