UK registrations of agricultural tractors (above 50hp) have risen for the tenth month in a row, according to the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA).
August’s monthly total was 829 machines, 26.2% higher than in the same month in 2020 and close to the 2015-19 average.
This brings the 2021 total up to 8,693 tractors, a 23% increase on the same period last year and 6% higher than the five-year average. The number of machines registered over the last 12 months has now moved above 12,000 for the first time since the end of 2019. In the year to August 2020, fewer than 10,000 machines had been registered.
The AEA noted that numbers may have been higher but ongoing disruptions to global supply chains, linked to Covid-19, have led to an increase in lead times for many machines.
