New working widths added to Horsch’s Avatar SD drill range

The Avatar SD direct drill range from Horsch was launched last year with a working width of 12m. Now the company has extended the series with new 8m, 9m and 10m machines to meet the requirements of the customer base.

As with the 12.25 SD, the 9.25 SD and 10.25 SD come with a 25cm row spacing. The 8.25 SD is available with a 25cm row spacing, or the 16.7cm spacing as with the 3m+ machines at the bottom of the range.

“The 25cm row spacing is proving popular with the very successful 12m model. Customers are reporting little to no detriment in yield in most crops, particularly in winter crops, yet lower input costs. The new models offer these benefits to customers wanting a smaller working width,” said Stephen Burcham, general manager at Horsch UK.

The new models feature a 6,400-litre triple tank system, split 60:10:30, or a double tank split 60:40. Specifying a MiniDrill attachment further enables up to four products to be applied via the SingleDisc coulter.

As an option, trash wheels can be mounted to remove organic matter ahead of the coulter, with infinite adjustment to suit the conditions. This can reportedly reduce the hair pinning effect where the coulter presses trash and crop residues into the seed furrow.
