Knight enters joint venture with Greek manufacturer

Knight Farm Machinery has established an import business with Greek sprayer manufacturer Agroma, designed to extend the choice of sprayers for UK customers.

Agroma UK was founded by Brian Knight, managing director of Knight Farm Machinery, and Konstantin Mavrov and Nikos Petkos, directors of Agroma GR. It will distribute the mounted, trailed and specialist Agroma sprayers, which are manufactured in Veria, 40 miles west of Thessaloniki in northern Greece.

“Agroma and Knight Farm Machinery have collaborated on projects for many years, so we know each other’s manufacturing and design principles very well,” says Brian Knight. “We share the same commitment to engineering excellence, advanced technology and machine quality, so this partnership is a natural step.”

    The range

There are two mounted ranges within the Agroma portfolio. Millenium SM machines offer capacities from 800-1,500 litres with booms up to 15m, while the Millenium M sprayers run from 1,000-1,500 litres with booms up to 18m.

Both utilise electro-hydraulic control, 180 litres/min piston diaphragm pumps and come with the option of Isobus control.

Trailed units are split into three ranges, with the Millenium ST featuring a 3,000-litre tank, booms up to 18m, which can be split into up to seven sections, and automatic rate control via the Arag Bravo 180S controller as standard. Options include Isobus control and a tracking drawbar.

The Millenium ET is a higher-specification machine, again with a 3,000-litre capacity. Booms extend from 20m up to 28m, with up to 13 sections, and the piston diaphragm pump is uprated to 280 litres/min. Isobus is standard on the ET, operated by the company’s Explorer joystick, while the stainless steel spray line features four-way Quadri-Jet anti-drip diaphragm nozzle bodies.

Automatic recirculation priming and purging are standard.

The top model is the Millenium T that is offered in a 3,000 and 4,000-litre model, with booms up to 30m. These are both Isobus-controlled as standard, and are equipped with pneumatic suspension with leaf springs and shock absorbers, as well as the option of a steering axle.

The pump now offers 300 litres/min, and it also features the Quadri-Jet nozzles and automatic recirculation system.

All models feature an adjustable anti-yaw system, as well as blue LED boom lighting, LED worklights and road lighting, and a flashing beacon.

    Specialist sprayers

Agroma also manufactures a range of orchard and vineyard Cyclone sprayers. These are available in mounted variants, from 200 to 1,000 litres, and trailed versions from 1,000 to 2,000 litres.

Mist sprayers for poultry building sanitation are also available.

As part of the distribution agreement, Agroma UK will also offer the manufacturer’s range of heavy-duty mulchers, designed specifically for orchards and vineyards. These include heavy-duty bearings, reinforced hoods and rotors, and hydraulic sideshift.

    Distribution and support

“Agroma UK Ltd is headquartered at our facility in South Luffenham, near Oakham in Rutland,” explains Paul Harrison, responsible for sales, marketing and distribution at Knight Farm Machinery and the new Agroma UK operation.

“Here we will hold a selection of new machines for immediate delivery to customers, stock spare parts, operate our technical support department, and host product and technical training on-site.”

He adds that Agroma UK products will be available through existing dealerships for both Agroma and Knight products, and that the company welcomes enquiries from new distribution partners.

“A combined offering of Agroma and Knight products gives customers options from the simplest sprayer to the largest and most technically advanced machines across all platforms.”
