Tractor of the Year 2026 – TotY Utility – Claas Axos 3.120

The flagship of the revamped Claas utility range, the Axos 3.120 is powered by an FPT four-cylinder engine, producing a maximum horsepower of 120hp, with 466Nm of torque available at 1,500rpm.

The Carraro-built mechanical gearbox comes with both Revershift and Twinshift functionality, offering a two-step powershift for each gear and a hydraulic powershuttle. This provides 24×12 gears, with a top speed of 40kph available at 1,750rpm.

A 90 litres/min open-centre hydraulic pump provides oil flow to up to four mechanical valves, with a 53 litres/min pump handling steering functions. The electronic rear linkage can lift to 5,300kg, while the optional front system has a maximum capacity of 3,240kg.

The standard specification has been kept simple, making this a price-competitive machine. However, as Claas has specifically designed it for loader operations, it comes with some high-tech offerings to manage loader operations.

This includes the Smart Stop brake-to-clutch system, a clutch release on the gearstick and Dynamic Steering, as well as the E-Pilot S electro-hydraulic proportional loader controls. This is a compact unit that mounts easily within the limited space of the cabin.

This can be linked to one of the Claas front loader units, with either mechanical or hydraulic self-levelling. There has also been a focus on convenience, with Claas bringing back the 180deg opening doors, which latch open to enable operators to quickly jump in and out of the cab, without increasing the overall width. There is also the option of a front-opening windscreen. To suit traditional buildings and yards with overhead obstacles, the total height of the machine is 2.5m, when fitted with 30in rear tyres.

Maintenance intervals have been extended to 600hrs, with access to the Maxi Care packages to fix servicing costs. The one-piece hood also enables quick access to daily check points.
