Tractor of the Year 2026 – TotY Utility – Kioti HX1403

Kioti states that the HX1403 is designed and built entirely in-house, using the Daedong four-cylinder engine to produce 140hp and 540Nm of torque. Service intervals at set at 500hrs, and the tractor reaches Stage V emissions through a combination of exhaust gas recirculation, diesel particulate filters and diesel oxidation catalyst, with both passive and active regeneration.

A 32×32 powershift transmission, also built by Daedong, is fitted with eight gears shifting under load and a hydraulic power shuttle. This also includes brake-to-clutch functionality and automatic four-wheel drive engagement.

Considering the size of the machine and the market it is going into, Kioti has integrated a substantial hydraulic system, using a closed-centre, load-sensing pump to provide 119 litres/min, with 47.8 litres/min available for steering from an independent pump. This feeds three mechanical valves at the rear, with one electronic, fingertip spool and the option of a fifth valve as required.

The five-pillar cabin includes a 12.3in touchscreen terminal and a bank of intuitive controls on the right-hand side, as well as a rear-camera, Bluetooth connectivity and USB charging, including in the standard package. The cab is fully suspended, with a heated, pneumatic driver’s seat.

The HX1403 is mounted on a 2,600mm wheelbase chassis, offering a ground clearance of 496mm and a steering angle of 42deg. Its unladen weight is 4,964kg, with a maximum operating weight of 7,915kg, distributed across the machine with 58% sitting over the rear axle.

It also connects to the company’s TMS telematics system, enabling operators to remotely monitor vehicle parameters at any time, as well as connect to the local dealer for proactive servicing and repair. By indicating which fault codes have appeared, dealers can identify the issue before going to the yard, speeding up the time it takes to resolve a problem.
