Tractor of the Year 2027 kicks off in Naples

The Tractor of the Year competition is now underway. The kick-off event started in Naples, with the 26 jury members being presented 23 tractors from 18 manufacturers.

Let the Challenge Begin… kicks off a summer of test drives for the jury, before the winners are announced at EIMA International in Bologna this November.

There are six categories in this year’s competition:

    • TotY HighPower for tractors above 300hp
    • TotY MidPower for machines from 150hp to 280hp
    • TotY Utility for four-cylinder tractors between 70hp and 150hp
    • TotY Specialized for vineyard, orchard and hillside tractors
    • Sustainable TotY, which will celebrate innovations in environmental sustainability. The shortlist will be picked from the competing tractors
    • TotYBot focusing on autonomous technology

BKT is once again sponsoring the competition. “What BKT and the TotY have in common is the constant quest for innovation and superior performance—two traits that can be found in a practical sense in the continuous evolution of farming machinery on the one hand, and in our latest-generation tires on the other.

“But it is not just about technology: for BKT, being a sponsor of this initiative means building a direct bridge with OEMs, and it is an opportunity to understand their technical needs and keep up with the pace of this evolution by providing them with customized and increasingly advanced solutions,” commented Lucia Salmaso, managing director of BKT Europe.

“Let The Challenge Begin is much more than the opening event of a new edition of Tractor of the Year. It is the moment when manufacturers and trade journalists from across Europe come together to discuss the technologies that are shaping the future of agricultural mechanization.

“The tractors presented in Naples reflect the direction in which the industry is moving greater efficiency, advanced digitalization, automation, and an increasing focus on sustainability. For the jury, this marks the beginning of a rigorous process of analysis and evaluation that will culminate in the selection of the winners of Tractor of the Year 2027,” added Fabio Zammaretti, president of Tractor of the Year.

Farm Contractor & Large Scale Farmer is the UK Tractor of the Year judge and we look forward to the field tests in the coming months.
