Silostop Max wins Runner up for Product Innovation at AgriScot

Silostop Max, the oxygen barrier film used on silage clamps, has been awarded runner up for Product Innovation at this year’s AgriScot, which was held at the Highland Showground in Edinburgh on the 16th November.

The product, which exclusively uses oxygen barrier technology, is impermeable and for this reason stops the entry of oxygen into ensiled crops, in turn allowing the better retention of energy and dry matter values when compared to other ensiling methods.

“We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised for product innovation,” explains Jennifer Hitchman, technical manager, Silostop. “Silostop continues to strive for maximum silage utilisation, and improved storage is an area which has great potential in the UK.

“As farmers look to improve their returns, reducing silage waste offers an easy and quick option. Dry matter loss is reduced in the top 1 metre (3 feet) of silage and aerobic stability is increased: silage at the face stays fresh and nutrient rich for longer.”

“The benefits of good quality silage are numerous; improved animal performance, health and welfare as well as labour savings. We have a technology that offers farmers the opportunity to increase margins from forage, through a simple and very effective method of ensiling,” Jennifer concludes.
