Bookings for the first ever Precision Livestock Farming in Practice conference are available to vets and farmers. It takes place at York Biotech Campus, Tue 23 and Wed 24 November.

A choice of one- or two-day tickets is available at connectmyevent.com/raftsolutionsltd/plfip2021. For vets taking one or two farmer clients with them, there are significant discount deals available.

“High precision methods are critical to the future of UK livestock farms and their vets,” says Mike Gooding, chairman of organiser RAFT Solutions. “The event offers an A-list of international speakers to explain the opportunities presented by  precision management techniques that can be applied in practice to any livestock enterprise.”

    Consumer perception

One example is early detection of sub-optimal animal performance and timely intervention. This is included in the session, ‘Big Tech and what it offers Precision Livestock Farming’. It will explore the use of data to empower precision decisions with Prof Jasmeet Kaler from University of Nottingham. In open debate, this session will also cover consumer perceptions, legislative governance, and impacts upon or opportunities for farmers and vets.

“All conference-goers, whether attending in person or on-line, will be challenged to adapt their thinking and focus on post-conference changes for the better,” says Mike Gooding.

The programme involves maximum Covid-responsible participation during farm visits and practical workshops, expert-led training and conference presentations.
