Two Somerset broiler farms go on sale

Two commercial poultry farms in Somerset – with a combined capacity of 240,000 birds – have gone onto the market through Carter Jonas.

Milford Farm and Knaplock Poultry Farm have a combined guide price of £4.9 million. Milford Farm is on the market for £2.6 million, with a detached modern farmhouse and four poultry buildings holding up to 119,000 birds.

The holding is also fitted with a biomass boiler and solar panels, and is eligible for the associated income from the Renewable Heat Incentives (RHI) and Feed-in Tariff (FiT). Consent for a fifth poultry building is also in place.

“Not only does this holding provide a fantastic opportunity for poultry farmers to grow their operations, but through the RHI and FiT they will gain additional income on top,” said Carter Jonas partner Jack Mitchell.

Knaplock Poultry Farm has a guide price of £2.3 million with a detached bungalow, large office and double garage with a flat above. Five poultry buildings are on-site, with space for 121,000 birds.

This property also has a biomass boiler and solar panels, with the associated income, and there is consent to replace the two remaining timber-framed buildings with a steel-framed unit.
