Limagrain UK appoints new OSR product manager

Limagrain UK has announced that Florentina Petrescu has been appointed as oilseed rape product manager.

Having previously held the role of seed specialist at Nickerson for eight years, Florentina brings a wealth of experience to the role.

She is also a graduate of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, where she earned both her Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Master of Science (MSc) degrees in Agriculture.

The role will include oversight of the development and implementation of strategies to promote the oilseed product line, with support from Kurtis Scarboro, arable development officer.

“We are thrilled to welcome Florentina to a new role in product management,” said Jonathan Tann, business area director for north-west Europe at Limagrain.

“Her extensive knowledge of agriculture and her specific expertise in seed management make her the perfect fit for this role. We are confident that her leadership will significantly contribute to our continued growth and success.”

Florentina added: “Despite recent difficulties, there is much to be positive about with regards to oilseed rape production in the UK. It remains the most profitable break crop, not just in terms of gross output, but also due to the value that sits with oilseed rape meal.

“Growers are constantly learning new ways of establishing the crop, from cultivations through to nutrition and, of course, varietal choice offering traits and vigour to withstand these challenges.

She added that Limagrain is best placed to recognise and respond to UK specific challenges, thanks to its dedicated plant breeding and research teams.

“As a co-operative owned by farmers, for farmers, Limagrain is at the forefront of bringing varieties to market that offer increased yields, stronger agronomic characteristics and better disease resistance, whilst end-users also benefit from added value, improved quality, productivity and processability.

“The success of this approach is reflected in the number of varieties sitting at the top of the current AHDB Recommended List. Without a doubt it’s an exciting time for the business and I am very much looking forward to being a key part of the team taking this forward,” she says.
