The Commercial Vehicle Show saw the launch of Isuzu’s latest addition to the D-Max range. Powered by a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine, it sits above the current 1.9-litre model, with power put to the ground through a new eight-speed automatic gearbox, with the option of a six speed manual.
It reportedly provides up to 400Nm of torque, boosting performance when towing or working off-road. The four-cylinder engine uses electronically controlled fuel injection, with an intercooler and double overhead camshaft.
On-the-fly four-wheel drive enables instant switching at speeds up to 62mph, while in difficult conditions, a low-gear four-wheel drive system is available, with rear differential lock and Rough Terrain mode.
It’s available in single-cab and extended-cab variants in the Utility specification; double-cab for the DL20 and flagship V-Cross machines; and extended- or double-cab for the DL40.
Each model features a new front radiator grille to distinguish it from previous generations, while the single-cab Utility gets a new fully black design.
DL40 and V-Cross machines get updated LED headlight accent colour features, while all but the Utility models benefit from updated front fog lamp bezels and new colours for the rear LED combination lamp. A reversing camera is available in the options list.
New sidesteps have been added to the DL40 and V-Cross, which also benefit from a 360deg Surround View Camera system.
Standard features include EU-compliant Advanced Driver Distraction (ADD) warning and Emergency Lane Keeping systems as part of a new Driver Monitoring System (DMS).
Managing director of Isuzu UK, Alan Able, said: “The Commercial Vehicle Show marks the debut of The New Isuzu D-Max 2.2 in the UK. The 2026 model is set to continue the D-Max’s success in this market, appealing to both owner-driver and fleet customers across commercial and rural environments.
“The new pick-up delivers a larger engine and enhanced styling with the load-carrying, towing and reliability expected from the Isuzu D-Max, as well as returning strong fuel economy and emissions figures.”
It comes with a five-year, 125,000-mile warranty, UK and EU roadside assistance and will be available from July, with prices starting from £33,495.
