Just 495 tractors were registered in August, according to the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA).
While the month typically sees reduced numbers due to farmers focusing on harvest, the decline has been noticeably bigger this year, with the figure being 30.7% lower than the same month last year.
It is also two-thirds below the five-year average for the month.
It brings the 2024 total up to 7,325 machines, 14.7% lower than the same period in 2023, and the lowest for four years.
