Institution of Agricultural Engineers Guild Award 2014 open

With an entry deadline of Friday, April 11 2014, a £1000 prize fund is being offered for the best articles/broadcasts that highlight the vital role of engineering in meeting the requirements of modern food and energy production.

Articles or broadcasts covering topics for the agriculture, horticulture, forestry, amenity and environment sectors are eligible, thanks to generous sponsorship from The Institution of Agricultural Engineers, the professional body for engineers, scientists, technologists and managers in the land based sector.

Entries that report on engineering – in all its forms – are suitable, providing they have been published between March 1, 2013 and February 28, 2014.

IAgrE chief executive Alastair Taylor points out that engineering has a pivotal role in the land-based sector and will continue to be at the heart of future advances.

“The specialists involved in this work are often too busy to be blowing their own trumpet,” he explains. “So this Award helps us to showcase what engineering is capable of and how much progress is being made.

The Award is only open to Members of the Guild, who are each limited to one entry.

The prizes – £750 to the winner and £250 to the runner-up plus a commemoratiuve plaque for each – will be presented at the Guild’s informal reception at the end of the first day of Cereals 2014.

To enter, email one scanned copy of your article to Marion King, the Institution’s press officer and award administrator, no later than Friday, April 11, 2014.
