New hedgetrimmer memory system launched by Shelbourne Reynolds

Lamma was the launch point for Shelbourne’s new head memory system for its 8000 range of hedgecutters, a development that has been tested with operators across the UK for three seasons.

Available for machines equipped with the S-Touch control system, the memory settings allow the operator to set, store and instantly return to a certain head angle, eliminating the need for corrective inputs and reducing fatigue.

“Without such a system, moving the hedge trimmer boom would mean it is necessary to also move the trimmer head to maintain the desired cutting angle,” said Neil Smith, sales and marketing director.

“With the head memory function we have developed, it’s no longer necessary for the operator to make corrective movements to adjust the head angle after moving the boom. As a result, the number of necessary joystick movements is reduced considerably, minimising repetitive arm and wrist movements. The new function is also useful in situations where the head is not visible to the operator, and its angle cannot therefore be judged and adjusted.”

It features four operating modes. The 0-degree button keeps the hedgecutter head horizontal, while the 90-degree button keeps it vertical. The Preset button allows the angle to be adjusted through the screen by the operator and Variable means that the last angle chosen is maintained.
