Stronger power grabs take a bigger bite in JCB attachments range

A new range of JCB AGRI Power Grab attachments for muck handling and similar jobs has been designed to increase the productivity of JCB Loadall telescopic handlers, TeleMaster telescopic wheeled loaders, and Farm Master industrial-class loading shovels.

The re-design process has resulted in lighter but tougher implements, using Hardox 500 steel to improve the balance between weight and strength. Robot-welded folded steel adds strength to the grab, which also has stronger bosses for the forged tines.

The grab assembly now opens wider and closes with increased clamping force, so it will take bigger bites of bulky material. Improved geometry means less hand work is needed to finish clearing out a cattle yard because the attachment can work closer to walls.

Larger electro-plated pivot pins, which can be greased to push out debris and minimise wear, are also part of the product upgrade, along with strategically-placed wear strips that prolong the life of the implement while helping to dissipate stress – all of which adds up to lower cost of lifetime ownership.

A solid spillguard now protects the backplate coupling mechanism more effectively, but the distinctive laser-cut ‘JCB’ lettering in the spillguard and the ‘wheat ear’ cut outs in the backplate give the operator a view of the grab and main tine points for easier precise positioning.

There are no less than 44 variants in the JCB AGRI Power Grab range, with different couplings and either forged or Hardox steel main tines. They cover the full spectrum of

JCB materials handling machine performance, from an 1850mm wide, 0.93cu m capacity version for a compact loader to a 2590mm wide version with 2.55cu m capacity for the biggest-lifting Loadall 550-80 and 560-80 telescopic handlers.

Other variants cater for the 2.5-3.5 tonne lift capacities of other Loadall models, the TeleMaster TM320 and TM320S telescopic wheeled loaders, and the Farm Master 413 and 418 heavy-duty loading shovels.

All JCB AGRI Power Grab attachments ordered with new JCB machines or for a JCB machine already in service come ‘ready to go’ with tail hoses and quick release couplings configured to suit the host vehicle.

“It will also be fully approved for use with JCB machines and have the correct CE certification,” points out Edward Roach, Sales and Marketing Manager, JCB Agriculture. “On top of that, buyers have the reassurance that replacement are available parts 24/7 through the JCB World Parts operation.”
