Trinity AgTech, part of Trinity Natural Capital Group, has announced the acquisition of satellite data analytics technology from Agrimetrics, a provider of cloud-based data marketplace and agri-food analytics.
The purchase includes imagery analysis tools developed over the past decade, which are used across private and public sector projects, including yield forecasting and environmental monitoring.
According to Trinity AgTech this completes the loop regarding data capture, with the company’s own Sandy platform utilising information from farmer observations, on-farm software and instruments, soil tests and remote sensing.
Combined with the Agrimetrics technology, farmers will be able to access near real-time insights on crop and grassland, including soil conditions, water flows and overall natural capital.
With an increase in data flow, farmers will be alerted to crop stress, disease risk or water shortages and be able to quantify collected data, including yield forecasts and carbon sequestration.
“This passing of the torch from Agrimetrics to Trinity AgTech is a win for UK and global agri-tech,” said Dr Hosein Khajeh-Hosseiny, founder and executive chairman of Trinity Natural Capital Group.
“We’re ensuring that the UK’s investment and immense expertise in satellite analytics will carry on and scale up. Integrating Agrimetrics’ market-leading technology into our ecosystem of data sources means farmers, land managers and other food and farming stakeholders will have even more robust analytics, with a much-reduced data collection burden.”
