New Insight service helps dairy farmers seeking technical and financial excellence

Dairy farmers could save over £27,000 a year by joining the new Dairy Insight Service being launched by Kingshay dairy specialists.

The business-focussed package, which features a new app, enables farmers to measure and monitor real farm performance, benchmark against others, and gather the latest international research and information to improve efficiencies.

“It is no longer enough for dairy producers to be technically brilliant farmers – they also need to be excellent businessmen and women,” says membership manager Sarah Bolt. “By designing our new Insight package to include the full range of technical and business tools – which will all be available via our new app – we hope to help our farmers meet those needs.” The new service is due to be unveiled at the Dairy Tech show on 7th February, bringing together all of Kingshay’s current services under one umbrella, as well as new, business-orientated, advice.

“The new service will enable farmers to identify opportunities for change and draw on expert technical advice in order to make small adjustments in management that could potentially result in significant savings,” explains Ms Bolt.

The UK’s leading dairy costings service – Dairy Manager – will now be included free to members as part of the service – saving £300 a year. An invaluable benchmarking tool, it enables farmers to track their herd’s performance, including production, feed efficiency and gross margins, and compare to others on similar systems. Free backdates are available to get new members started.

Farmers will also benefit from a wealth of technical publications to boost productivity. These include Dairy Insight – packed with technical advice to enhance on-farm performance, Business Insight – providing crucial information on financial best practice and legislation, and Research Insight – translating scientific research papers from around the globe into useful information.

“Members get free online access to the back catalogue of over 300 technical publications, making an excellent resource for informing business decisions and training staff,” says Ms Bolt. “They can also phone and speak to a consultant any time for free practical advice on all farming issues. Efficiency is all about making the best use of resources, and we aim to help farmers use their own data to feed into better management decisions.”

To make it even easier to access all of their information, farmers can use the Kingshay app to view their Dairy Manager results and access the knowledge base library on their mobile phone or tablet. In addition, they can use handy online calculators to work out herd health costs and slurry storage volumes, for example. The app will be free to download from 7th February 2018. “Whatever your challenges Kingshay has the expertise, tools and services to drive your business forward.

Kingshay Dairy Insight Service is available to all dairy farmers. For more information visit kingshay.co.uk or call 01458 851555.
