STIHL has released a pair of new AP System battery-powered brushcutters with enhanced operational performance for farmers struggling to deal with large areas of tough grass.

Designed to replace the previous FSA 90 model, the new devices, named the 120 and 120 R have an increased power output of 40%, designed to help professionals with larger landscaping projects.

The FSA 120 has two speed settings and a variable trigger, meaning it’s able to deal with a range of cutting requirements.

A new ECO mode on the devices also lowers RPM when needed to maximise working time, while also automatically adapting their speed. It has a line head RPM at 7,800 and a metal blade RPM at 9,700.

The models make use of the  same gearbox used in STIHL petrol tools so that they are compatible with a range of attachments to aid cutting, including the STIHL AutoCut, PolyCut, DuroCut and TrimCut cutting heads. They can also accommodate for metal grass blades, adding more versatility and and longer working times.

The FSA 120 can also be bought with a bike handle to suit a range of needs, and the R model has the option for a tool-free adjustable loop handle, designed for comfort and the ability to quick, easy adjustments. A harness hook that is also adjustable that allows users to move the attachment points along the shaft quickly and simply.

Both devices come equipped with an AP 300 S Lithium-Ion battery, noted for being STIHL’s high-capacity battery. These allow up to 100 minutes of working time from a single charge when used with a metal cutting blade.

The full range, along with Stihl’s additional battery tools can be found here.
