    Procam appoints southeast agronomy specialist

Agronomy firm Procam has announced that Justin Smith will join its team in the southeast of England as a regional technical manager.

Having grown up on a small mixed farm in East Sussex, Justin went on to achieve a National Diploma in Agriculture and a BSc in Agricultural Business Management. Before joining Procam, he worked for Bartholomews Agri Food Limited as an agronomist specialising in combinable and forage crops.

As regional technical manager, he will represent the company’s agronomy team and provide advice to his own portfolio of customers.

“During my career to date I have carved a niche by specialising in the provision of a comprehensive nutrient planning and advice service – something that I feel has been largely underserviced by more traditional agronomy provision,” Justin said.

“I hope to bring this expertise to my new role and look forward to working with the region’s farmers to provide a ‘whole farm’ package of agronomy guidance which will enable their businesses to remain viable in an ever-changing sector.

“The role of the modern agronomist has moved on from simply providing prescriptive crop protection advice, and I’m excited to be able to offer a bespoke service which will not only help growers to get the most from their current cropping strategies but also to gain a better understanding of how to make the most of new opportunities such as the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI).”
