Opico showcases new Alpego Inversa stone burier at Royal Highland Show

The Royal Highland Show saw the introduction of a new Alpego stone burier. The Inversa is based on the Alpego rotary tiller and is said to create a friable seedbed even in the stoniest of soils.

The rotor spins in the opposite direction to conventional machines, lifting the soil and carrying it over the top before propelling it through two rows of spring-loaded tines. Working with an adjustable levelling bar, the company states that this setup ensures that stones, clods and residues are dropped to the bottom and covered with fine soil.

The buried layer of stones creates drainage channels beneath the seedbed, without limiting the roots’ access to moisture deeper through the soil profile.

Alpego states that its centre-drive system has several advantages, notably transferring torque loadings equally to each side of the machine and reducing strains and stresses throughout the driveline. The rotor is supported by four bearings, instead of the standard two.

Three versions of the Inversa are available. The IG range runs from 2.5m up to 3m, for tractors from 90 to 170hp, while the IZ is available in 3 to 4m working widths for machines up to 280hp.

The flagship, hydraulically folding Poker range is offered from 3.6m to 5m for tractors up to 260hp. All models are available with a choice of rear rollers, and options including hydraulic depth adjustment, track eradicators and piggy-back linkages.
