Kuhn Farm Machinery has said that investing in genuine, strengthened points for cultivators could improve the longevity of wearing metal in dry, difficult conditions.
The lack of moisture means that growers risk spending more money on wearing metal when margins are increasingly tight.
Ed Loder, arable product specialist, says that there is a strong case to invest in OEM and hardened parts. “Every grower will be analysing the return on investment this year and wearing metal is likely to be a greater cost than many had budgeted for.
“Although genuine, hardened parts are more expensive, they last between six and eight times longer than standard ones, so the additional cost means each point will cover more ground and changes will be less frequent.”
DuraKarb hardened points are available on the HR power harrows and rotary tillers, along with the Cultimer, Prolander and Performer stubble cultivators.
