One of the last Swed-Trac tractors is set to go under the hammer on the 28th of October.
Developed in the 1980s by the Pihlgren brothers in Arvika, Sweden, Swed-Trac only produced around 60 machines before going bankrupt in 1987.
According to Mikael Larsson from Östhammar, who owns the model going to auction, the machine is a ‘unicorn’. ” It really was a tractor ahead of its time. Big, high-horsepower tractors like this were unusual back then. With its Scania engine delivering close to 170hp, it was more substantial than most tractors when it came out,” he says.
He has owned the tractor since 1994 and used it sparingly, which is why the hour meter shows just over 2,000 hours. “The previous owner had worked at Swed-Trac, so there’s a close link to its origins. It has done very few hours and is in original condition, including the interior. It’s well preserved. Given that there can only be a few left, it’s undeniably rare.”
The auction will take place online at www.klaravik.se on the 28th of October.
