McConnel brings host of new additions to Lamma

McConnel returned to Lamma with a host of new developments, including a new hedgetrimmer, new control systems and uprated flailheads.

Celebrating the company’s 90-year history, the PA1935 Limited Edition Power Arm is based on the recently launched 72-Series, offering a 7m telescopic reach, 70hp hydraulics and an all-black livery.

It also features exclusive 90-year branding and a unique rear panel to honour McConnel employees.

    New control systems

Alongside the PA1935, the company introduced two new control systems. Pioneer is a compact unit with a mini-joystick, fitted with three raised roller switches, and fingertip controls for key functions.

The Voyager has the same functionality but includes a larger joystick, with two rollers on top for thumb control and another positioned at the rear.

Key to both systems is the increase from two to three rollers, enabling the control of additional functions including Variable Forward Reach (VFR), hydraulic front hoods, and orbital head brackets.

    Flagship flailheads

A new 1.8m flailhead was also introduced, sitting above the 1.2m, 1.5m and 1.6m options currently available.

As well as increasing the working width, it incorporates a twin-ram hydraulic front hood and a new hydraulic rear roller to improve performance, according to the company.

The rotor diameter has been increased to enhance cutting efficiency and durability, while the hydraulic system is fully enclosed to provide added protection.

    New flail options

Building on the success of the F10 Competition Flail, a new, heavier F18 model has been introduced, said to deliver a 20% increase in overlap thanks to its 80mm width.

It’s compatible with Multicut and Tuffcut rotors from 70hp.

Finally, McConnel has further updated its flail systems with the Flail Quick-Fit design, featuring a cast lug assembly with a spring-loaded locking pin.

A groove on the flail ensures a secure fit. The system will be available on flailheads of 70hp and above later this year.
