Tractor of the Year 2026 – TotY MidPower – Zetor 6170

It’s all change in the Zetor camp with the company’s Series 6 tractors. Having closed down both its engine and transmission productions, Zetor has opted for a Deutz four-cylinder power unit, producing 170hp and 699Nm of torque, available at 1,500rpm, with 90% of the torque available at just 1,000rpm.

This has been paired with the ZF TPT16 mechanical gearbox, offering six gears and five ranges for 30×15 gears. It’s rated to a 40kph top speed, which in eco mode can be reached at 1,650rpm.

Within the gearbox, there is clutch control on the joystick and brake-to-clutch functionality, as well as power shuttle control, and the aggressiveness of switching between forward and reverse can be adjusted.

ZF axles are fitted at the rear, while Carraro suspended units are mounted at the front. Customers can opt for a heavy-duty version of the front axle, which increases the permissible weight from 4,700kg up to 5,300kg, and the overall permissible weight to 11,500kg, split almost equally between the front and rear.

The steering angle is 45deg, providing a turning circle of 10m.

The new six-pillar cabin is pressurised, with a one-piece windscreen, with a right-hand control block that offers headland management, cruise control and engine memory functionality, and for the first time, an optional slip control which is connected to radar. Topcon precision farming systems are available as an option. Mechanical cab suspension is standard, with the choice of mechanical or pneumatic seat suspension.

A closed-centre, load-sensing hydraulic system is fitted, with 120 litres/min available and an independent steering pump putting out 49 litres/min. The rear linkage has a capacity of 9,700kg, while the optional front linkage can handle up to 3,500kg. Four speeds are available at the pto, while the front unit is rated to 1,000rpm.
