    Wox kit ‘built for contractors’

Based near Barnard Castle in the North East, Adam Mulley Contracting has been offering slurry application for five years and following a significant sub-contracting agreement, invested in umbilical spreading equipment two years ago.

“We needed to hit the ground running,” explains Adam. “We met Geoffrey from Wox Agri Services at Lamma 2024 and he had the knowledge to understand exactly what we were looking for, and was able to get the equipment to us within a six week period so that we could start working.”

Opting for a Scorpion 1,000m reeler, which enables Adam to drop-out bobbins and replace them to cover long distances without multiple reelers, three reels and the Viper hose humper, as well as the Shug range of couplings and adaptors and refurbished Vogelsang dribble bar.

“Straight away we were impressed with the build quality,” Adam says. “Everything is designed to be long-lasting; we’ll be changing wearing parts, but I don’t see how you would ever have to replace a unit. It’s built for contracting work.”

He adds that Wox has an impressive stock of spare parts, and being just an hour away, if there ever is an issue, it can be sorted on the same day.

    Primed for work

As much of the umbilical work comes from the sub-contracted agreement, Adam explains that they often aren’t aware of the farm setup until they arrive. As such, they need a pump that can be used in a variety of scenarios.

“We used another brand for the first year, but we always struggled with the priming, and it was clear we needed a different unit that could cope with the work,” Adam explains.

They approached Geoffrey to see what Wox could offer, working with the manufacturer to build a base pumping unit with air valves, that could quickly change over from airing out to spreading.

“You can see that he’s genuinely invested in his customers, because he used to spread slurry as well,” Adam concludes. “He understands what we need and works closely with us. The lads have his number, and he can normally help us with any problems over the phone.”

The Wox Agri Services range includes reelers, both fixed and with removable bobbins, a comprehensive choice of Gollmer and Hummel drag hose, Shug couplings, and in-house developed pumps, both pto- and engine-driven and available on a trailer unit, with a choice of power units, Cornell, Bauer or Doda pumps.
