    Deutz-Fahr appoints two Scottish dealers

SDF UK has announced the appointments of two dealers to its network in Scotland, both of which are family businesses with proven track records in sales and after-sales.

Previously a McCormick dealership, AB Wight Ltd will offer the Deutz-Fahr range across the Scottish Borders. Run by brothers Andrew and Gary Wight, it is reportedly the only dealership in the area with a full-line engineering workshop.

Machines are sold and supported by a team of 12, and the business has a manufacturing operation, producing trailers and attachments. Deutz-Fahr will sit alongside the company’s other established franchises, including McHale, Pöttinger, Maschio, Dieci, CFMoto and McCauley.

“We were really pleased to be approached by SDF UK to take on the Deutz-Fahr franchise for this area, particularly as it has one of the newest factories in Europe at its site in Germany, and a new UK headquarters that shows its dedication to the market,” says Garry.

“Its product range fits well with the other lines we offer, and SDF UK has been a breath of fresh air to work with, offering us a stable partnership, while their investment in growing their presence is clear to see, showing its commitment to customers and dealers. In addition, our salesman David Watson knows Deutz-Fahr products very well, having sold them previously.

“The response from our customers has been great, and we’ve already sold 13 tractors just a few months into our dealership agreement, ranging from models around 100hp right up to the largest 340hp 9340, and from simple-specification tractors to ones with full precision technology such as RTK guidance. Many replaced other makes, which shows our customers’ confidence in us and Deutz-Fahr.”

    Dumfries and Galloway

Thomas Cairnie and Son Ltd will take on the Deutz-Fahr range for Dumfries and Galloway. Established in 1934, the business specialises in fabrication, welding and servicing, and will now return to tractor sales after focusing on other areas.

“We have already retailed ten mid-range units, mainly to beef and mixed farmers,” says the firm’s Jack Cairnie, who runs the business with his uncle.

“It’s great to be back retailing SDF tractors, including the latest Deutz-Fahr models, and there has been a brilliant response from local farmers. We’re keen to expand the support we offer, and are seeking another team member due to the level of interest.”

Graham Barnwell, SDF UK country manager, says that the appointments show the manufacturing building on its advancing share of the market.

“The addition to our dealer network of two very respected family businesses in AB Wight and Thomas Cairnie and Son shows our commitment to the Scottish market and building on the progress we’re making in growing our UK market share in challenging times.

“These are two great appointments for SDF UK and the farmers of Scotland, and we are looking forward to working with them to bring our tractors to more farms.”
