Reportedly the world’s first on-farm carbon benchmarking scheme developed specifically for the dairy got industry, Delamere Dairy has developed a system in partnership with Alltech E-CO2 and its Carbon Trust certified model to reduce emissions and work towards net zero.

PAS 2050 is reportedly the first consensus-based and internationally applicable standard on product carbon footprinting that has been used as the basis for the development of other standards internationally. The new benchmarking scheme utilises a system that has been certified to both PAS 2050 and ISO 14067.

The scheme will equip farmers with an action plan to ensure that they are getting the best performance and productivity out of livestock while working towards carbon-neutral farming.

Ed Salt, managing director, Delamere Dairy said: “As the worldwide goat dairy industry continues to grow it is important that as a company, we can demonstrate our commitment to reducing carbon emissions in line with other sectors of UK agriculture.

“I am delighted to announce, in partnership with Alltech E-CO2 the development and roll-out of our CO2 benchmarking scheme, a scheme developed specifically for the commercial goat dairy industry and a world first.”

Ben Braou, business general manager, Alltech E- CO2 said: “From our extensive experience we have been able to show the direct correlation between business efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

“Through our partnership with Delamere Dairy, Alltech E-CO2 is pleased to help drive the development of a more sustainable commercial goat dairy industry. We believe that Delamere Dairy is leading the industry in taking an important step to reduce the emissions of goat dairy farming.”
