New e-learning course is helping you to upskill during #FarmSafetyWeek

    Farm Safety Week

#FarmSafetyWeek, organised by the Farm Safety Foundation, is back for its 10th year. And, to encourage farmers to embrace on-farm safety training, the NFU and land-based training organisation Lantra have launched a new safety e-learning course.

The two-hour online course has been developed inline with advice from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) agency, to offer reminders about the risks that one may face on farm, such as working at heights or with cattle. It also delivers practical advice, such as reminding workers to engage the brake on a farm vehicle or wear a helmet when riding an ATV.

NFU vice president David Exwood said of the course: “Pledging to upskill ourselves, either through repeat or new training, is a simple and cost-effective way to increase awareness and better identify and manage risks on farm. By investing in ourselves and our learning, we are actually investing in our farm businesses as we are our most valuable asset, so safety has to be a top priority.”

“We are about to embark on the busiest time of year in farming – harvest – and we must remember farm safety best practice. On my farm, we have just started combining and I will be ensuring that all workers take sufficient rest breaks and wear high visibility clothing.”

Members of the NFU get a 10% discount when signing up to the course; click the following link to do so www.nfuonline.com/updates-and-information.
