Two starter farms come to market with youngsRPS

Two ‘starter farms’ have come on the market in the north of England through chartered surveyor and estate agent firm youngsRPS.

Associate director Tom Whitehead said that with price rises in the farm land market predicted, now is the perfect opportunity for those waiting to jump into the rural property market.

“Both Alborough Moor Farm in Marton Cum Grafton near York and Pilmour House Farm in Butterwick near Sedgefield are perfectly suited to operate as small farms (or for those purchasing their first farming business) or as an equestrian property. Both sites have family farmhouses and several agricultural buildings with scope for further development,” he said.

Aldborough Moor Farm has a guide price of £1,500,000 and is a well-equipped, compact arable and livestock farm in the Vale of York. The farm totals 32.45 hectares and includes a modernised three-bedroom house, portal-framed general-purpose and livestock buildings, productive land and well-fenced paddocks and meadow land.

Pilmour House Farm is for sale as a whole, or as two lots, totalling 28.14 hectares and includes a three-bedroom detached farmhouse, a range of useful outbuildings and a large garden.

Joanne Metcalfe, associate director, and leading agent for the sale of Pilmour House Farm stated: “This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a ring-fenced arable farm to the east of Sedgefield. The farms’ accessible location with road links via the A689 to the A19 at Wolviston, and the A1(M) at Bradbury makes it suitable for both agriculture and equestrian purposes.

“At a time when property stock is still low, it is refreshing to see the market become more lively and bring these two great properties to the market. We would encourage any interested parties to contact us immediately.”
