Vredo produces the 1,000th Overseeder Agri machine

Vredo has announced that the 1,000th Overseeder Agri 229.07.5 machine has been produced from its Netherlands factory.

The company has produced overseeders since 1976, with the latest range being introduced in 2017. In total, the company has produced more than 10,000 units, with around 600 overseeders being produced each month.

The 1,000th machine was built for Canadian dealer Sem Solutions, who were invited to the factory to celebrate the milestone alongside the engineers who build the machine.

    Vredo overseeders through the years

In 1976, Ben de Vree produced the first self-developed machine. The overseeder was given the name Vredo (Vree Dodewaard), with no model number, and was painted red and blue. It was robust, with an iron handle to adjust the machine to different seed sizes.

Once this machine was launched, several developments were integrated over the years:

    • 1977-1983 – The DZ1 was introduced, based on the original design. The colour scheme was changed to yellow and red, and the working width was 2m.
    • 1983 – The DZ2 was launched, featuring a cam wheel and improvements to the metering mechanism. The working width was increased to 2.5m, with a disc spacing of 10cm.
    • 2005 – The DZ3 is introduced, with adjustable planting depth, finer metering and a narrower disc arrangement. This was the first generation to be made available with extra options and a 2.9m working width.
    • 2011 – The DZ4 is launched. The last time the original overseeder was optimised.

The DZ4 range saw the introduction of the Agri Twin and Agri Air models, both using pneumatic drive and seed metering. The Agri Air is available in 2.5m and 2.9m working widths, while the Agri Twin extends to 4.4m and 5.8m.
