    Horsch extends cultivation portfolio

The Horsch cultivation range saw some of the most substantial updates during its pre-Agritechnica event, including a new Finer XL spring tine cultivator, suitable for mechanical weed control as well as cultivation down to 10cm. The trailed models reportedly reduce the power requirement, allowing smaller tractors to handle the 7m or 8m working widths.

Tines are laid out across six bars spaced at 52cm to allow high levels of trash to pass through the machine, with a tine spacing of 15cm and wing points from 5cm up to 22cm available. Depth control wheels and contour following are standard, with a choice of single or double packers, with the additional option of a single or double row of rear harrows.

Announced just before the event, the company has also extended its Cruiser XL tine harrow range with a new 12m version equipped with FlexGrip tines that offer a breakback point of 180kg for consistent work in difficult conditions. Working depths go down to 15cm with tines spaced out across six bars, and there is a wide range of packer options.

Designed for fields with high levels of organic matter, the Joker HD features a new frame design and folding concept, as well as a more aggressive tool angle and 680mm diameter discs, up to 60mm from the previous generation. The new discs allow for working depths down to 20cm.

It can be specified with up to three working tools, thanks to a new knife roller option or the crushbar to break down soil clods. Working widths from 4.15m up to 6.15m are available, with single or double packers. A final update to the Joker range is the ability to adjust the spacing between the double packer rolls, especially handy in tricky conditions.

There were two extensions to the Fortis range. The first is the LT range, which replaces the Terrano GX and is designed for tractors up to 500hp. Four models are available between 4.6m and 6.75m, with a four-bar design and tines spaced at 27cm. The frame height of 850mm enables it to work with high trash levels, while the tines can work down to 30cm.

The redesign includes moving the rear levelling tools closer to the last row of tines, according to the company, which directs soil to ensure the desired mixing and consolidation.

An 8.27m model has also been added to the Fortis AS range, completing the range. Like the LT, it offers working depths of 30cm and is suitable for tractors up to 500hp, with a four-bar design. New to this model is that the fourth bar has been moved closer to the rear to provide enough loose soil ahead of the levelling element. The company’s weight transfer system has also been equipped, enabling up to 1.2t to be transferred to the rear axle of the tractor to prevent slippage.

Rounding out the cultivation options is a new mounted version of the Tiger. The SL offers a four-bar design, spaced at 23cm, said to provide good mixing results even with high organic matter. The reason for the addition of a mounted version is to offer a manoeuvrable cultivator for tractors from 240hp.
