New liquid application options from Horsch

Extending the versatility of its drilling and cultivation range, Horsch introduced two new options for applying liquid nutrition. The front tank Leeb CT offers capacities of 1,400, 1,800 and 2,400 litres, with an induction option in the dome, a 180-litre clean water tank and a piston diaphragm pump system.

It pushes the product back to the rear implement, enabling it to be applied directly around the seed.

A more directly integrated option is the CLT system, shown to us on a Maestro machine and initially available on SE/SX specification models. This can be retrofitted as well, comprising an 800-litre tank mounted to the side of the seed wagon, with the option to fit another on the other side.

It uses a piston diaphragm pump for application rates of between 20-100 litres/ha. Liquid fertiliser can be applied from one of two points on the planters, either directly in the seed furrow or behind the catching roller if conditions are wet. It can also be specified with half-width shut off or individual row control.

Onto full-sized spraying options, and a new single-axle Leeb 9 LT trailed sprayer was on display, with a 9,000-litre plastic tank to keep weight to a minimum. It’s positioned between the existing single-axle range and the tandem models to offer a manoeuvrable, high-capacity machine.

It uses uprated but familiar components from the range, including a centrifugal pump rated at 1,000 litres/min and can be specified with the company’s range of precision farming systems, including BoomControl, which stabilises the boom over undulating terrain to maintain the correct application height.

The tandem machines weren’t forgotten either, with DynamicSteering now being fitted as standard on all new models and an option to retrofit the system onto existing machines. It allows the operator to switch between various steering modes or have the intelligent steering software decide the most appropriate mode based on the steering angle.

On a wide turning circle, the machine will simply follow the tractor tracks to protect the crop, while during tight turns, the front axle of the sprayer will actively swivel in the opposite direction to allow the machine to turn in early, reducing the turning circle and the load on the rims to minimise tyre wear.
