Flagship Sky EasyDrill to make its debut at Cereals

Following the success of the 3m, 4m and 6m variants, Sky Agriculture will introduce an 8m EasyDrill model to the UK market at the Cereals Event, running from 30 June to 1 July.

The W8020 Fertisem EasyDrill is developed to the same principles as the 4m and 6m pneumatic drills, sharing the same coulter line, multi-hopper capacity and electronic systems. It can be fitted with up to four hoppers and is able to drill at two different depths, making it possible to sow a variety of seed combinations, seed and fertiliser or seed, fertiliser and granular products.

The main hopper is split for grain and fertiliser, each with its own pneumatic distribution. Separating the placement depth of seed and fertiliser is said to improve the efficacy of applied nutrients and eliminate the risk of shoot burn.

Row spacings of 16.6cm mean that the 8m model has 48 coulters, each with seed and fertiliser outlets. A 250kg coulter pressure provides the versatility to work in a range of systems, from direct into hard stubbles to working in a prepared seedbed. An additional feature allows weight to be hydraulically transferred between the front and rear press wheels to adapt the drill for soil conditions.

Typical working speeds are said to between 6-12kph, depending on conditions, and the drill folds to 3m wide for transport and 3.2m high. As standard, it comes ISOBUS ready, supplied with Sky’s Quartz 800 control box, with the option of E-Drive premium for left and right control and electronic row shut-off for each individual outlet. This makes it possible to work in all tramline widths, regardless of whether it is divisible by the working width of the drill.

Prices for the Sky W8020 Fertisem EasyDrill start from £151,624. For more information go to www.sky-agriculture.co.uk
