Complementing the Bale Baron accumulators brought into the UK, Bale Baron UK showcased the new Marcrest 210 conventional square baler.
The company states that while existing balers on the market can produce around 500 bales/hr, requiring two to keep a Bale Baron 5250 at full capacity, the 210 can push out around 1,000 bales/hr at its peak (based on 6-7 flake setup), enabling it to maximise the output of the following accumulator.
According to Bale Baron UK, while the investment in the 210 will be higher than other conventional balers on the market, the overall capital cost will be comparable, and efficiency will be increased as one man can run the baler and accumulator.
It requires just 125hp up front, increasing to 165hp when the Bale Baron is attached, although greater power will be needed when working on slopes, with an on-board hydraulic system that is powered by a 540rpm pto. The pickup is a variable speed, camless system, with a double auger and rotor which guides crop into the chamber, with a plunger system that operates at 120 strokes/min.
