Recognised as the Overall Innovation of the Year with the IAgrE Ivel Award in the Lamma Innovation competition, Agro-Vital’s Triplex system is designed to help growers adapt their nutrient applications using farm-specific data.
Developed in the Netherlands, it uses soil, tissue or sap analysis to monitor nutrient needs, including trace elements, and then formulate a liquid or foliar application, with the data crunching taking less than 48 hours, according to the company, and the machine taking around 20min to formulate a 1,500-litre batch. The formulas are then delivered on farm in IBCs, ready for application.
Andrew Sincock, managing director of Agro-Vital, says that this could be a key machine for large estates, co-operatives and contractors, although initially it will be rolled by the company as a ‘farming as a service’ operation.
It could also play a role in more holistic methods of farming, as detailed soil and sap analysis will indicate nutrient stocks within the ground and highlight elements that are locked up and require additional operations.
