KRM has announced the Sprinter 8500P flail mower, aimed at farmers and contractors looking for a high-capacity machine for set-aside, pasture topping and vegetation management.
It combines a 2.8m front-mounted unit with a pair of 3m rear flail mowers and can be mounted on tractors from 200-400hp.
Based on the company’s existing range, the Sprinter features steel-housed roller and rotor bearings as standard, as well as a central gearbox with an internal safety clutch, a multi V-belt drive, replaceable sheets and a fixed counter blade.
Heavy-duty hammers are fitted to the 195mm rotor, each weighing 1.6kg and rotating at more than 2,250rpm. According to the company, this means the Sprinter can handle fine cutting on grass, as well as heavy scrub and stems up to 75mm in diameter.
The front-mounted unit features an arched-over headstock to create a pull effect, allowing the machine to float over uneven ground. The rear units hang from the midpoint for 3deg of oscillation to the left and right.
It also features a large leaf spring in the central headstock allowing the machine to breakback by 8deg before automatically returning to the working position.
