    Hi-Spec announces new flagship muckspreader

Hi-Spec Engineering will introduce a new 20t-capacity Xcel muckspreader next year. The Xcel 2050 follows the 1250 model, using the patented chain and disc spreading system.

The company states that this enables the machine to handle a wide variety of manures. Rotor-mounted chains and Hardox steel flails provide a shredding action to break down product before being spread by the discs, which has the additional benefit of allowing potentially damaging foreign objects to pass through.

It features an angled side panel design that widens towards the rear to provide an increased capacity, while also reducing the risk of bridging. As an option, 4in plastic trim can be fitted to these panels to protect them from damage during loading.

Heavy-duty marine-grade chains are used to move product towards the spreading kit and Hardox is used at critical wear points for increased durability.

Once the manure passes through the flail rotor, it falls onto two gearbox-driven spreading discs. Both of these are fitted with shearbolt protection and two spreading vanes.

If lighter material is being spread, there is also the option for six-vane discs, and depending on the manure used, spread widths of up to 24m can be achieved.

The standard specification includes a hydraulic drawbar and wide-angle PTO, as well as a tandem steering axle with 710/50 R26.5 tyres and air brakes to minimise compaction. Centralised greasing is also included in the base package.

Options include the Isobus-compatible RDS Apollo spreader control system, to maintain a preset application rate. This can link to weigh cells in the spreader as well as the speed of the chains, which is monitored and adjusted to match the application rate.

    Hi-Spec at Lamma

At Lamma 2025, the company will also showcase its Kompactor push-off trailer, and the latest specification 4000 TD-R vacuum tanker.

A feature of the company’s tanker range is the option to have a bespoke model designed and built to the customer’s needs. The 4000 TD-R at the show will have an 18,184-litre capacity, a sprung hydraulic drawbar and commercial, parabolic, tandem recessed axles, with forced steering at the rear.

The machine is also fitted with a weight transfer system, air and hydraulic twin braking, a spoon-type hitch and electro-hydraulic controls, as well as a rear linkage.
