The Merlo Agritechnica stand was full of updates and new products that will be integrated into the range over the next few years. These include a pedestrian detection system that uses AI image monitoring to recognise people behind the machine and bring the machine to a stop if someone moves within 3m.
Some style changes have also been added, with metal mudguards, and a fin-style grate on the cab – replacing the previous mesh design for improved visibility to the boom and attachment. Boom headstocks have also undergone a redesign, with a new knuckle that sees hydraulic piping hidden within to protect it from damage, and a greater range of movement, with increased breakout force.
As for new additions to the range, the Hyper Compact TF15.5 is designed to be towed behind a pick-up from the yard to the field. It’s powered by a Yanmar 36hp engine and offers a 5m lift, with capacities up to 1.5t. It’s just 1.56m wide, with a cab that is 4cm narrower than the company’s eWorker electric model. For work in poultry sheds or traditional farm buildings, it is just 1.8m high and 3m long.
Development continues on the Hyper Compact to get the weight below 3t and meet towing regulations.
