The wheeled loader range from New Holland has been extended with the W170D+ Forage Power model, specifically designed for clamp operations.
Gaston Le Chevalier, business operations New Holland light equipment, Europe, explained that the machine has been designed specifically for the agricultural market, rather than crossing over with its construction business, with customer feedback, focused on high pushing capacity, improved stability, comfort and visibility.
It’s powered with an FPT engine, producing 255hp put to the ground through a six-speed hydrostatic transmission. Torque levels have been increased by 37% over the existing D specification machine, with 1,300Nm available at 1,300rpm, with lock-up available from first gear, as opposed to second gear in the previous machine.
The front axle features a 100% self-locking differential, working with the limited-slip rear axle, both supplied by ZF. The engine is mounted horizontally at the rear, minimising the need for a counterweight, with a reversible fan and a cube-style cooling system that provides easy access to each of the five radiators.
Efforts have been made to improve functionality and visibility while on the clamp. A 178deg rear camera is fitted as standard, as are electronic side mirrors – an update which extends across the full D+ range, along with a new white noise reversing alarm, radar rear object detection and an external seatbelt indicator.
Joystick steering is available as an option, mounted on the left armrest, and new ‘Click and Dig’ functions are available, including upper and lower height limiters and a return to position system.
